There’s something in the air - we’re about to announce a Muslim Writers’ Salon gathering on the topic of Coping with Rejection! Would love to see you there
Been reading some of your recent essays and I’m finding them insightful and timely for where I find myself. Just a note with regards to Hamas and Al Shabaab. I don’t know the context and history of Al Shabaab but with what we know of Hamas, they are a resistance movement, that has come about because of colonial occupation. Their methods can and should be spoken about, questioned and condemned if wrong, but I think the distinction concerning intent and existence matters. Also, in my opinion, the reason for support when it comes to Hamas is not just because someone stood up to Israel but quite literally the Palestinians, who have been subjugated for so long, that this retaliation and doing so in a way that took away that air of invincibility from Israel meant that the Palestinians had something and someone who didn’t ignore their plight.
Hey, thanks for the comment! The piece I linked does not reflect my personal opinion, and is more imo an interesting piece of analysis from someone who knows the region well, talking to the implication of recent events on the Horn of Africa, less focused on Ham@s itself. Perhaps the sections I excerpted are unhelpful without the whole article’s context? Appreciate your post !
Onwards and upwards InshAllah!
inshallah!

As I came back to this, it hit me with the idea of organising as a verb. Bell Hooks opined that Love is a Verb; a process!
